The high absorption nappy or sanitary pad has a lower layer (3) with an absorbent insert (4) which is partially enclosed by a thin cellular cottong wool layer (5) and is stuck in the center to an outer impermeable protective foil (1). A reinforcement pad (7) is attached to the lower layer (3) and cinsists of an insert (12) encased in a thin cellular cotton wool layer (13). The side parts of this insert (12) are folded down beneath the center part to form a cavity (11) and the entire layered unit is covered by a fleece layer (14). This hollow cavity (11) forms an oblong temporary container for the fluid so as to improve the all around distribution and absorption. Since only the fleece layer is contact with the body there is no danger of chafing.
