A window construction comprises a main frame or casing and a pivoted sash therein, both frame and sash being made from the same cross-section frame members wherein the confronting edge surfaces of frame and sash in the closed position of the window form a lateral groove or recess, the width of which increases in the direction away from its bottom, and sealing and abutment strips 11 are secured in the adjacent opposing recesses. As shown the frame members have recesses on the inner and outer sides of the frames. Each frame member is composed of three separate lists, the central list 13 which may be of wood or metal and of rectangular cross-section and forms the bottom in the recesses and two lateral lists 14, e.g. of different or same wood forming the inclined sides of the recesses. The lateral lists, preferably on the inner periphery of. a sash may be costituted by a metal frame having a recess to receive the glazing 17. |
