[Also in Division G4] In a system for the automatic dialling of telephone numbers, a card is inserted in a scanning device to cause transmission of a series of pulse trains to a telephone exchange. The card has printed circuit connections between contacts on its lower and upper edges, contact K9<SP>1</SP> being connected directly to contact Kro and each of contacts K0<SP>1</SP>-K9<SP>1</SP> being connected, through diodes, if necessary, to a combination of contacts K1-K5. When the card is inserted, RO pulls up to start impulsing relays IG, A and to supply positive voltage to the rest of the system. With switch Z in the " 0 " position, a combination of relays 1-5 is connected in series with ZR and these relays pick up. A contact decoding tree of relays 1-5 connects P to one contact of switch S, and a contact zr connects the stepping magnet of S to an impulsing contact ig. When the S wiper reaches the contact connected to P through the tree, P picks up, p4 closes and pulses are transmitted to the exchange over lines a, b. When wiper S reaches contact 11, C picks up and P drops out, ending the first digit transmission. S then continues to the home position and in doing so steps switch Z to position 1. The process is repeated for the remaining digits. When switch Z reaches contact 9, B picks up and closes b 2 to notify the exchange that transmission is complete. |
