<p>Equipment for mixing viscous fluids comprises a tube with side nozzles A, B, and C. The side nozzles arrive at the inner tube surface almost tangentially, pointing downstream by about 10 degrees. Nozzles B are radial in direction, but point slightly downstream. The fluids moving down the tube are split into substream by nozzles B, and rotates by nozzle A, C. To improve mixing nozzles A, C point in opposite directions. The fluid inserted through the nozzles may be one of the components, or may be a gas such as air. The mixer is partic. suitable for preparation of foamable resin compositions, esp. those containing reinforcing fibres. For such materials, mixing must be rapid prior to moulding. Prior mixers have incorporated baffles leading to dead spots and difficulty in cleaning.</p> |
