The focussing screen of a photographic camera serves the purpose of directly viewing, composing, and focussing the subject to be taken. It consists of an aperture screen (6), a congruent lenticular screen and a Fresnel lens as field lens. In this arrangement, the lenticular screen elements (5a) and the field lens elements (7a) are superimposed on one another and form a compact unit with the aperture screen (6). A focussing aid (8) is provided in the centre of the focussing screen. This results in the provision of a focussing screen which exhibits without a focussing hood a high-contrast image which is scarcely impaired by light incident rearwards. <IMAGE>
