1517508 Clutch release bearings AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 11 Sept 1975 [23 Sept 1974] 41365/74 Headings F2L and F2A In a rolling bearing assembly, shown as a clutch release bearing, one of the races, 13, is radially located by a co-operating cylindrical surface of a carrier member 10 and an annular dust shield and grease retainer 16 which extends past an end of the annular space between the races 13, 14, has a tubular portion in spigotted interengagement with the race 13 and sandwiched between the race 13 and the cylindrical surface of the carrier member 10, the tubular portion being corrugated or otherwise deformed to cause it to be deformed between the race 13 and the surface of member 10 and so be resiliently urged into engagement with these members. An inner shield 17 is also provided. The shields 16, 17 have flanges 19, 23 between which protrudes a portion 25 of race 14 for engagement with release means of a clutch. The carrier member 10 has trunnions 11 for a clutch release fork. In alternative embodiments the bearing race can be mounted on a radially inner cylindrical surface of the carrier member 10, with the inner shield sandwiched between them, or the bearing may have radially, rather than axially, spaced races. |
