<p>1517453 Electrodes ETHICON INC 13 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975] 05744/76 Heading A5R [Also in Division Dl] A surgical electrode suitable for use in a heart pacemaker comprises an electrically conductive wire 2 having an insulating coating 3 and a needle 4 attached to and in electrical contact with said wire, said needle having a straight shank portion 4c adjacent the point of attachment to said wire and a weakened zone 4b adjacent the shank portion. The other end of the wire may be connected to a conventional curved needle 1, Fig. 2 (not shown) for embedding said end in the heart tissue. When the electrode has been positioned in the patient, the needle 4 is snapped off at 4b and the shank 4c is connected to the pacemaker. The insulating coating 3 may extend over the end of the needle, Fig. 4 (not shown).</p> |
