<p>1517363 Sawing AEG-ELOTHERM GmbH 12 Sept 1975 [13 Sept 1974 13 March 1975] 37609/75 Heading B5L [Also in Division B3] In a spark-erosion cutting machine, a sensor 15 is movable, by a threaded spindle 16, in the direction x in a support 10 itself movable in the direction y in a frame 7, in response to a pattern 8A. A carriage 22 slidable in a frame member 21 supports, for sliding movement in the x direction a ball joint 41, the outer member 42 of which is fixed to a member 24 which drives an electrode holder 25 relative to a workpiece 29. Movement of the sensor is transmitted to the ball joint 41 by a rod 40, pivoted to the sensor and to a frame member 51 by ball joints 46 and 50 respectively. As shown, the sensor operates photoelectrically, electrical signals produced controlling the drive of the support 10 and the spindle 16. The U-shaped holder 25 supports a wire electrode 26, continuously pulled off a reel 27 and wound on a reel 28 which is passed through an opening, forming the spark gap, in the workpiece 29 mounted in a container 30 for dielectric fluid such as petroleum. The rod 40 as shown is longitudinally slidable in ball joints 41 and 50. Alternatively the rod is fixed to the ball joints but is of telescopic construction between the joints 41, 46 and 50. The joint 50 is vertically adjustable to vary the scale of reproduction. A magnetic sensor may be substituted for the photoelectric sensor.</p> |
