1517064 Sealing casings of electric cells F K NABIULLIN E M GERTSIK V A RABINOVICH V A SOLDATENKO and J T RODIONOV 3 May 1976 18015/76 Heading H1B A battery is sealed by placing a cover 1 and seal 2 of, e.g. polyethylene in an annealed casing 3, pressing the seal down by a plunger 2, and then moving a die 6 until it hits a stop 5 to roll the casing 1 over the seal. The stop is so arranged that the plane of the end face of the cover 1 is the same as that of the sealing part of the die. In a modification (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) the cell may be held in a socket and the plunger 2 may be spring-urged. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) the cell may be held in a cylinder and the height of the cell may be adjusted by a wedge. In a further modification (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown) suitable for casings which have not been annealed, the die is in two coaxial parts, the outer one moving before the inner one. |
