<p>PURPOSE:To uniformly and efficiently attach and fix microorganisms to a carrier having restricted water absorption by absorbing a liquid containing microorganisms into the water-absorbing carrier. CONSTITUTION:A water absorbing carrier containing absorbed water corresponding to <=30% of saturated water-absorption is made to contact with a liquid containing microorganisms to effect the absorption of said liquid into said carrier and to support the microorganism on the carrier. The water absorbing carrier used in the above process is peat, sawdust, etc. The liquid containing microorganisms is a suspension of microbial cells such as deodorizing bacteria and nitriding bacteria or an activated sludge having controlled water-content. When the suspension of microorganism is made to contact with the carrier having low water-content, the microorganisms in the suspension of microorganism does not enter into the carrier and is deposited on the surface of the carrier in such a manner as to be filtered with the carrier. Since the absorption of water by the carrier is performed in the whole carrier, the microorganisms are attached to the whole surface of the carrier.</p> |
