A lubricant comprises a lubricating oil or grease base containing (1) an antimony dihydrocarbylphosphorodithionate wherein the hydrocarbyl group is C 2 -C 8 alkyl, C 5 -C 6 cycloalkyl which may be substituted by one or more methyl or ethyl groups or a phenyl group substituted by one or more C 1 -C 9 alkyl groups and (2) lead naphthenate, a halogenated paraffin, a sulphurized fatty oil and/or a metal di-C 1 -C 20 alkyl-dithiocarbamate. The lubricating base may be a mineral or synthetic oil, e.g. glycol ethers, dibasic acid esters, polyesters and polyethers. Grease thickeners specified are lithium 12-hydroxystearate and an aluminium complex.</p> |
