1534700 Valves DANFOSS AS 10 Dec 1975 [16 Dec 1974] 50624/75 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] In a thermostatic expansion valve 1, e.g. for controlling fluid flow from the condenser to the evaporator of a refrigeration system, a closure member 6, actuated by a diaphragm 14 in a chamber 17 which is connected to a temperature sensor via a capillary 18, is biased to the closed position by a spring 9 and, in use, by the pressure of fluid in the inlet 3 such that fluid flow through the valve is substantially independent of changes in the inlet pressure. As shown, a bellows 19 forms an enclosed chamber 22 separating the valve stem 7 from the diaphragm 14; the chamber 22 being in communication with the inlet 3 via a passage 24 or by the clearance between the valve stem and the guide. A chamber 23, formed between the bellows 19 and the diaphragm 14, can communicate with the outlet 5 or, via a separate inlet (30), Fig. 2, (not shown), with an evaporator outlet, to make the valve substantially independent of outlet pressure. |
