1436178 Hoppers/conveyers ZAPATTA INDUSTRIES Inc 16 July 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 33729/73 Headings B8S and B8A The supply of disc-like objects, e.g. crown corks, to a reservoir B from which the crowns are removed at a constant rate by a conveyer E, is controlled, in response to a sensor D which detects the crowns in the reservoir, so as to maintain a predetermined level of crowns in the reservoir. Crowns are fed along a supply shoot A to a vibrating trough 12 which feeds the crowns to a rotary bowl 18, vibration of the trough 12 being controlled by the sensor D. The crowns are discharged from the bowl 18 into a passageway 58 which incoroporates a device F for orienting the crowns such that they enter the reservoir all facing the same way. The device F comprises a tongue 62 which engages the skirts of the crowns to direct them into one of two passages 64, 66 according to the orientation of the crown. The passages 64, 66 are twisted so as to supply the crowns with their inner surfaces facing outwardly (as seen in Fig. 1). The reservoir comprises two plates 80, 82 separated by a distance just greater than the height of a crown. The sensor D comprises a photo-cell 92 and a light source 90. |
