1,207,278. Suction cleaners. A. S. NEMEJANSKI. 6 Dec., 1968 [8 Dec., 1967], No. 58125/68. Heading A4F. [Also in Division H1] In a handle and trigger assembly for an electrical apparatus, the trigger 11 is mounted within handle 10 and is of onepiece construction, and has portion 23 for engagement with an electrical contact 8 and a further more flexible portion 14 for engagement with the inside wall of handle 10 for biasing trigger 11 away from its withdrawn position, the arrangement being such that when handle 10 is gripped by an operator trigger 11 is withdrawn into handle 10 for operation of the apparatus. As shown, the invention is applied to a vacuum cleaner comprising batteries 6 mounted in casing 5 supplying through wire 7 and a switch composed of metallic strips 8 and 9, a motor 2 driving a fan 3. The dust bag and filter are mounted in the front part of the body 1, the dust bag being mountd on a threelegged removable framework (not shown) accessible through the removable end 1<SP>1</SP> of the body 1. An additional fan may be mounted on the other side of the motor. Trigger 11 is pivoted about point 12 and is biased clockwise by integral spring portion 14 so that integral projecting portion 23 holds portion 811 of resilient strip 8 away from strip 9. Portion 25 of trigger 11 projects below handle 10 and when gripped and withdrawn into handle 10 pivots trigger 11 anticlockwise allowing strip 8 to contact strip 9. When trigger 11 is released spring portion 14 pivots trigger 11 back again opening the switch. The trigger is constructed of a moulded plastics material. |
