1299205 Amylose powder; amylose-butanol complex HAYASHIBARA CO 22 Jan 1970 [24 Jan 1969] 3241/70 Heading C3U Amylose powders of good solubility and flavour retention are produced by gelatinizing a starch slurry, hydrolysing the branches of amylopectin with an isoamylose thereby obtaining an amylosic starch solution, precipitating the resulting starch to the form of a crystalline precipitate by slowly cooling the starch solution, separating the precipitate either by decantation or centrifugal separation, and thereafter spray drying the separated crystalline precipitate to a powdery form. The precipitation and separation of the amylose from water can be achieved simply by the cooling or, alternatively, with the addition of butanol or a fatty acid to produce, after the cooling, a precipitate in the form of a complex, e.g. an amylose-butanol complex. The initial hydrolysis may be achieved by heating or with enzyme. |
