The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R1 is Cl, F, OH or the hydrolysable carboxylic esters thereof, lower alkoxy, CH 2 OH or the hydrolysable carboxylic esters thereof, CHO, CH 2 Cl, CH 2 F, CHCl 2 , CHF 2 , CCl 3 , CF 3 , CN, phenyl, benzyl or COOR, where R is H, lower alkyl or an alkali metal; R2 is methyl or ethyl; R3 is H, methyl, ethyl or isopropyl; R4 is H, OH or the hydrolysable carboxylic esters thereof, lower alkoxy, cyclopentyloxy, cyclohexyloxy, tetrahydropyran - 21 - yloxy, tetrahydrofuran - 21 - yloxy, OSO 2 OX or OPO(OX) 2 , where X is H or an alkali metal; R5 is lower alkyl or as R4; R6 is CH 2 OH or the hydrolysable carboxylic esters thereof, CHO, COCl, COF, CONH 2 or COOR and each of Z and Z1 is a single or double bond at least one being a single bond and when R6 is COCl or COF then R4 and R5 are not OSO 2 X or OPO(OX) 2 . The lower alkyl and lower alkoxy groups contain 1-6 carbon atoms.
