<p>Tampon cores comprises a mixt. of a solid material (I) which is insoluble in body fluids and is a good diffuser of such liquids, and a second solid material (II), also insoluble with a high capacity for retention of such fluids. Specifically, (I) is selected from carboxymethyl-cellulose cellulosic pulp, regenerated cellulose or colloidal silica; (II) is chosen from carboxymethylcellulose, carboxymethyl starch, graft copolymers of polyacrylonitrile, graft-modified cellulose or acrylic copolymers. The core is used with a suitable soft, permeable woven) fabric (cotton) cover. The mixt. combines a high capacity with an ability to distribute a rush of fluid rapidly throughout the core to avoid local flooding/saturation of the surface regions and consequent by passing of an incompletely loaded tampon.</p> |
