A musical instrument comprises a series of sononous plates 7, loosely mounted at 8, 9 on their nodal lines, disposed over openings 10 in resonance boxes 1-5, the boxes all being of the same length but having apertures 11-15 of various shapes and sizes cut in them so that they are tuned to their respective plates 7. The boxes 1-5 may be in the form of cylinders, and are spaced from each other by flanges 16,17. The opening 10 may have a drawn-up lip, and is disposed either at the centre of its resonance box, or towards one end. A plurality of openings 10 may be provided. |
