The spectacle frames are of the type having two circular surrounds connected by a bridge and each open with a slot which enables a protective glass or an ophthalmic lens to be placed in position. The locking bars or strips may be brought back onto the circular surrounds by a system of jointing or interlocking. Each locking bar carries a lateral protection shell, which forms an integral body with the locking bar which holds it. The tenons are in the bar which holds it. The tenons are in the form of trapezoidal plaquettes. The tenons are essentially coplanar.
