The cutting tool for a lathe consists of a bar (10) of rectangular cross-section with one end of reduced thickness ending in a shoulder of radius (R). This thin section is split by a saw-cut (13) into two arms (11, 12). The saw-cut ends in a hole (11) which is adjacent to a second hole (16). A second saw-cut (15) at right angles to the first runs into a second hole (16). A grub screw (20) with a hexagonal recessed head and a plain shank is screwed into a hole with its axis parallel to the first saw-cut. As the grub screw (20) is tightened it opens the second saw-cut (15) and closes the first saw-cut (13). The cutting tip (19) which is wedged in the end of the first saw-cut (13) is thus securely clamped.
|
