Hydraulic concrete or mortar structures, partic. prefabricated panels, are produced by applying a first coating (I) on the wall of a mould, polymerising the coating, applying a primer coating comprising an organic material which is hardenable in presence of a hydraulic binder and, before the primer has set, casting a hydraulic concrete or mortar. The latter is then vibrated to ensure good bonding with the primer, and this and the concrete or mortar are allowed to set before demoulding. (I) ensures protection of the concrete or mortar surface and can also be decorative or pigmented. The surface of the panels is smooth and non-porous.
