The modular coachwork component is particularly for a public transport vehicle. It comprises safety arches mounted on the box-section vehicle chassis, and spaced apart at set intervals. Two arches form a modular component and allow the fitting of struts and cladding panels. The assembly of several modular components together allows the dimensions of the vehicle body to be varied. The arches can be of tubular section and mounted on a frame fixed to the chassis at their free ends. The struts can be mounted in the top arch corners, to form part of the vehicle roof, and being radiused to form the rounded side ridges of the roof.
