Automatic number printer with rack and pinion control - has sequence operation from programmed control

An automatic printer has the numbers mounted on the outside of a wheel (2) which is carried on spindles and held between flanges (1). The numbers are exposed by sliding a toothed rack (5) with teeth which mesh with the number wheel. The rack has a second set of teeth gearing to a pinion (6) driven by an inching motor (8). The motor is programmed from a tape to give the required sequence of numbers. Other number layouts may be arranged, such as a single drum or with planetary wheels.
