Asymmetric V=shaped insulator for suspending HV cable - has vertical plastics insulating rod linked to inclined porcelain rod

The asymmetric V-shaped insulator suspends overhead HV cables from mast traverses. The insulator system consists of a vertical rod (2) pivoted at its upper end to the traverse and at its lower end to a longer, inclined rod (3) whose upper end is pivoted to a point along the traverse. The holder (13) for the cables (14) is fixed to the intersection between the two rods. The vertical rod (2) is made of a glass-fibre reinforced plastics material and the inclined rod (3) is made of porcelain.
