The passive echo compensator circuit arrangement is for a wideband system and has at least two delay chains, one for the compensation of the full pass band and one for the compensation of a narrower channel within the transmission band. The circuit has a hybrid set at the input with delay chains being connected to the output of the hybrid set. A circuit with one narrower channel compensator has a delay chain (LT) a main signal coupling circuit (HSE) and a band-pass filter (BP) whose transmission band corresponds to that of the narrower channel, connected to the output of the hybrid set (G). The delay circuits are terminated with a resistor (Z). The tappings of the delay chains (LG, LT) and the main signal coupling circuit (HSE) are connected to a common conductor (SA).
