<p>PURPOSE:To recover heavy metals from an aqueous solution, in high efficiency, by carrying out the adsorption and desorption of the heavy metal to the hydrolyzed product of a polymer prepared by the reaction of a polymeric compound having acid hydrazide group with an oxalic acid diester. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution (e.g. seawater) containing a heavy metal such as uranium is made to contact with the hydrolyzed product of a polymer having a macro-network structure and produced by the reaction of a polymeric compound having acid hydrazide group with an oxalic acid diester. The heavy metal adsorbed to the polymer is desorbed to recover the heavy metal in high efficiency. The polymeric compound having acid hydrazide group is preferably the one obtained by the reaction of hydrazine with a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and divinylbenzene. The oxalic acid diester is preferably dimethyl oxalate, etc.</p> |
