PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform sectional shape and dimensional accuracy over the entire length by a method wherein press on an endless member is varies by moving a press means thereto to cause a change in the twisting thereof produced when the drive shaft advances into a material supply groove so that the endless member is ground uniformly on the entire outer surface. CONSTITUTION:An endless member 5 with an angular section is looped on a drive shaft 1 with a circular material supply groove 2 on the circumference and a driven shaft 3 supported rotatably and a grinding stone 9 is brought into sliding contact with the endless member 5 set in motion with the rotation of the drive shaft 1 to produce an endless round packing. Here, a press member 7 is pressed in the direction crossing the kinetic direction of the endless member 5. The pressing means 7 for the endless member 5 is mounted at the tip of a reciprocating means 10, for example, a cylinder is arranged to reciprocate in the direction of pressing in linkage with the rotation of the drive shaft 1 for producing motion of the endless member 5. |
