The silent throttle of pressure-reducing valve has an annular throttling member mounted in the flow direction of the medium handled with a series of ring-shaped throttle components movable axially in relation to each other. Each component forms two or more successive throttling stages whose gap is adjustable by a valve stem, and together forming the necessary throttle opening. In each throttle component (1) and stages (8) are situated axially one above the other. They can also be of the same diameter, and the medium can be arranged to flow radially into each, then axially, and finally radially out again.
