1516346 Liquefied gas storage CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON CO 12 Sept 1975 [22 Nov 1974] 37694/75 Heading F4P To support a cryogenic tank having a circular horizontal section while providing for thermal movements, a plurality of horizontally spaced keys 24 are secured to the tank 12 (or the support structure), and each have a pair of vertical faces 35, lying in radial planes, slidingly co-operating with vertical faces 36-of an associated keyway 40 secured to the support structure (or the tank), the lower faces 32 of keys 24 bearing on supports 30. Insulating material in the form of blocks 31, 38 and sheets 43 reduce heat transfer between the tank and support structure. Fig. 6 shows a keyway 54 secured to the tank co-operating with a key 60 on the support structure, the key being covered with insulating blocks 58, 59, the latter bearing the weight of the tank. In other embodiments, Figs. 8-11 (not shown), the key comprises a block of insulating material, whilst in the embodiment of Fig. 12 (not shown) a tankmounted keyway (15) co-operates with a key (101) which is secured-to the support structure through insulating material (102, 106, 107). Upward movement of the tank is prevented by a plurality of vertically disposed bolts secured between a flange on the tank and the support structure, Figs. 3, 7, 9 (not shown), or by cooperation between the upper surface of the keys with an abutment on the support structure via an insulating block, Figs. 13, 14 (not shown). |
