A float controlled pilot valve for feeding a toilet tank has a valve assembly A 1 actuator rod 40 and float 30 mounted to swing about the axis of inlet pipe 6 to facilitate fitting the valve in tanks of different constructions. Downward movement of float 30 following a flushing operation causes rod 40 to tilt cap 20 and pilot closure member 19 about fulcrum 45 which bears an annulus 46. The consequent reduction of pressure in chamber 13 permits the inlet pressure to open main closure diaphragm 11 to inter-connect inlet pipe 6 with concentric output pipe 25 and bowl filling pipe 51 via a non-return flap valve 56 which, when so operated, closes syphon breaking air inlets 24. When the float rises again closure member 19 is re-seated and the pressure communicated to chamber 13 via orifice 47 re-closes the diaphragm 11. The inlet pipe contains a flow restrictor 67, filter 62 and rubber pipe 64 which absorbs shocks in pipe 6. The lower part of pipe 25 is cut away at 27 to permit the water to flow into the tank. The parts may be constructed of plastics material with members 23 and 8, 8 and 12 and 19 and 20 welded together ultrasonically. |
