1,229,681. Vibrating conveyer. CARL SCHENCK MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. 10 May, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 22415/68. Heading B8A. Powder is conveyed by a vibrating conveyer at a depth greater than a minimum depth H in order to gain an increased efficiency. The value of H is calculated according to the formula where D = permeability of the powder to gas R = gas constant T = absolute temperature e = porosity of the powder w = frequency of vibration of the tray. In practice, the minimum depth H is from 140-200 mms. and is achieved by maintaining an average depth of 250-350 mms. to allow for intermittent input of powder. In the embodiment the vibrating tray 1 is formed with three channels 7, 8, 9 separated by partitions 5, 6, the partitions being of average depth 250-350 mm. over the length 12 but being deeper, as shown on the left, where the powder is received from hopper 10. When the trayis vibrated by motor 3, powder is fed rightwards from hopper along the central channel 8 till it meets the shoulders of the partitions 5, 6 when it overflows the partitions to form separate flows of powder rightwards along each of the three channels, the depth of powder being always greater than H. |
