1477956 Telephone answering machine COMPUR-WERK GmbH & CO 28 July 1975 [27 Aug 1974] 31414/75 Heading H4K In a telephone answering machine having separate announcement and message storage means (e.g. magnetic tapes) an additional pilot signal is recorded on a separate track over the useable length of the message store so that when this store is driven in response to detection of an incoming call an announcement message is only given if there is sufficient space within the store for recording an incoming message of up to a predetermined duration. If the pilot signal is present, a ringing detector is cut-out, the line is looped, the announcement given, a message is recorded and the apparatus restores to normal after a preset time delay. A further pilot signal may be recorded over the length of the announcement store, the presence of both pilots being required to initiate an answering action by the machine. |
