<p>The present invention provides a method of cutting by means of a laser beam loops aligned in parallel columns on one side of a piece of cloth, which comprises directing a focused laser beam on a well defined area of each consecutive loop, the beam remaining there for a time sufficient to burn at least part of the loop fibers, each loop being provided when it approaches the focal point of the beam, with a relative motion with respect to the contiguous loops such that each loop crosses the focal point in contact with a following loop. The present invention also provides a device for cutting yarn loops aligned on parallel columns on one side of a piece of cloth by means of a focused laser beam, said device comprises source for the generation of a laser beam, guiding mechanism including a carriage carrying a needle to be inserted into said columns, guiding mechanism to move said carriage perpendicularly to the columns, a focusing lens clamped on the carriage such that the lens focus is on said needle, and dragging mechanism adapted to provide a relative motion to the loops with respect to the focal point position and a spring for providing each loop with a relative motion of deceleration, with respect to the cloth, until the loop comes to a full stop at the focal portion of the beam and an acceleration movement as the loop approaches said focal point.</p> |
