<p>1536637 Luminescent materials PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 8 July 1977 [13 July 1976] 28748/77 Heading C4S A luminescent rare earth borate sensitive to U.V., X-rays and electrons, has the formula La 1-x-y-z Gd x A<SP>1</SP> y A<SP>11</SP> z B 3 O 6 , wherein A<SP>1</SP> is Bi and/or Ce, A<SP>11</SP> is Tb and/or Dy, x+y+z # 1, 0 # x # 0À999, 0À001 # y # 0À8 and 0 # z # 0À6. Specific examples are given including Ce 0À65 - Tb 0À35 B 3 O 6 and Gd 0À97 Bi 0À02 Dy 0À01 B 3 O 6 . The borates are prepared by heating the corresponding oxides or carbonates with boric acid in air, nitrogen or N 2 +H 2 .</p> |
