1534489 Detecting electrolyte levels SOLVAY & CIE 20 Oct 1977 [20 Oct 1976] 43706/77 Heading C7B A diaphragm (as shown) or mercury cathode cell for brine electrolysis comprises an inlet pipe 8 for electrolyte, a space 25 for collecting a gas produced e.g. chlorine for removal via pipe 10, and a device for detecting a critical minimum level 14 of electrolyte in the cell enclosure e.g. anode compartment 9, comprising a tube 15 communicating with the enclosure with its lower end 16 at the level and its upper end joined into a pipe 17 connecting a source of pressurized gas 18, e.g. air, nitrogen, argon or chlorine, to a detector of differential pressure 19 communicating with the space via pipe 26. The detector may be coupled to means for actuating an alarm and/or a circuitbreaker.
|
