The cylinder comprises a cylinder casing (1) with a connection piece (2) produced integrally with the latter by extrusion with subsequent metal-cutting removal of the superfluous rib part, its running surfaces being hard-anodised. The piston (3) and a connection (5) are likewise shown. To restrict the backflow, a ball-type non-return valve (6) is installed in the connection piece (2) and a restriction hole (7) is also formed in the said connection piece. In many cases, the connection cannot be made in the end of the cylinder and, as a result, the pipes or tubes have to be brought in and connected to the cylinder casing close to the latter. In the case of steel cylinders, connection pieces are for this reason welded on in many cases. With aluminium cylinders, this construction leads to a reduction in strength in the region of the connection piece due to the welding, but it is precisely in this region of the connection piece that the reduction in wall thickness leads to bending stresses in addition to the tangential stresses, and these bending stresses lead to higher stresses on the already weakened point. These disadvantages are avoided by the cylinder unit described by virtue of the fact that the cylinder casing (1) and a connection part (2) for the supply of medium are in one piece. There is no weakening of the material by the action of welding temperatures. <IMAGE> |
