The soap is extruded, cut into tablet lengths and then compressions- moulded into tablets. During the compression-moulding, the tablet is completely enclosed in thin sheet material interposed between mould faces and tablet to prevent all contact between soap and mould faces. The sheet material can be in the form of two superimposed, continuous bands of flexible sheet which sandwich the tablets during moulding and from which moulded tablets ar released ready for packaging. The flexible band material can be PVC., polythene, polypropylene, viscose natural or synthetic fibre etc. Alternatively, the sheet material can be preformed in semi-rigid packaging material, e.g. PVC or card, in order to stay with the moulded tablet as a pillow pack sachet. A similar sachet can otherwise be formed by extruding a plastic tube continuously to sleeve the soap bar leaving its extrusion nozzle. Bar and sleeve are cut to length simultaneously and the sleeve is fin-seamed to a pillow pack during moulding. Clean undamaging release from the mould is obtd. without resorting to demoulding additives in the soap or release lubricants in the mould. The tablet can be sachet packed as moulded.
|
