A card slitting machine has two driven, cutting wheels (22, 23) with cutting edges (24, 25) over part of their circumference, working against freely turning wheels (20, 21) on the other side of the strip (28) of packing material. The cutting wheels are held in their working positions by springs (12a, 13a) but can be lifted away. They can be mounted on lever arms (8, 9) which can be turned on their fixed axes (6, 7) by hand-operated (29) cam (14), so arranged that either, or neither, but not both, of the cutting wheels can cut at any one time. If the machine has as few as two cutting wheels, the axes, on which the lever arms controlling them pivot, can be set one inside the other. |
