<p>A slab cutting installation for a moving continuous cast slab comprises a support roll assembly for the slab and >=1 oxy-cutting burner moving above the slab with vectors respectively parallel to and transverse to the direction of the slab, the paralle vector speed being synchronised with that of the slab, to make the cut. The support rolls in the zone where the cut is effected are mounted so as to overhang the slab edges, their axes of rotation being transversely directed and disposed on both sides of the slab, the rolls being arranged in pairs. The distances between rolls pairs being less that the width of the slab. Contact between the burner and the rolls is avoided and between flash produced on the slab, as a result of cutting and the rolls and other associated equipment.</p> |
