1536886 Manufacturing pulp from straw KESKULABORATORIO - CENTRALLABORATORIUM OY 13 Aug 1976 [4 Dec 1975] 33822/76 Heading D2W Pulp is produced from straw by a process which comprises treating the straw with an alkaline liquid in the presence of oxygen at 80‹-170‹C for 15 to 20 minutes in a single stage, the amount of alkali used being 14-16 wt. % based on the dry wt. of the reactants and the reaction pressure of oxygen being 1.4-1.6 MPa. The treatment causes defiberisation of the straw and precipitation of silicates therein.
