[Also in Division F4] In a spark ignition device having a magnetic circuit in a core composed of a U-shaped static part 22, 23 incorporating a permanent magnet 21 and an armature 27 displaceable by a lever 26 from a closed circuit rest position to produce by the sudden formation of an air gap an abrupt change in the flux threading in induction winding 29 embracing an arm of the part 23, complementary pole surfaces on the end of the arm and on the armature mutually contact in a plane extending normally to the arm axis, within a recess at one end of the winding, and with a common area of contact greater than the crosssectional area of the arm; moreover, the winding 29 includes both a low- and a high-tension winding whereof the circuit of the former is broken by the lever 26, simultaneously with that of the armature to induce in the H.T. winding a sparkgenerating voltage which is applied to ignition electrodes, as shown, those Pt tipped 11, 12 of a pocket cigarette lighter. The parts 22, 23 are laminated, and the greater area is achieved by making the pole surfaces 30 square whereas the arm 23 is cylindrical. The lever 26 is pivoted on a pin 25 and actuated via a leaf spring 42 by tilting the lighter cap 5 which is pivoted on a pin 6 and has a flame hole 43 above a buner nozzle having a gas valve 16 actuated by a lever 15. The L.T. winding circuit, which includes a capacitor 38, is broken by the lever 26 opening contacts 34, 35. |
