<p>Throad system for metallurgical shaft furnaces, e.g. direct redn. furnaces uses two containers, one located above the other, both of which are provided with valves making gas-tight seals. The lower container has a base fitted with tubes for distributing the charge over the cross-section of the furnace. Above the base of the lower container is a switch contact which ensures that the height of the charge in the lower container is always above a min. value. Both containers are pref. provided with inlet and outlet tubes for gas employed to control the pressure and/or the temp. in each container. This design reduces the wear on the valves etc., caused by hot, dust laden gases; all parts of the system are accessible for easy repair or replacement.</p> |
