<p>Air purifier uses the electrostatic principle in which impurities present in the air stream are charged to a high, pref. positive potential. This is followed by a device with a negative potential to collect the impurities and a fan to pull the air through. Improvement is that at east the collector electrode comprises an electrically conducting reducing agent e.g. C, which is connected to the negative potential. The collector is pref. a filter plate formed from carbon granules or fibres, and may contain additional filter material as well as C. It has electrical conductor connections which can serve to strengthen its structure. The ionising electrode can be a similar filter plate although wire/metal plate constructions are also possible. Used for purifying and sterilising air. The charged particles and germs collect on the carbon while odours and other cpds. are absorbed onto its active surfaces. Arrangement facilitates cleaning while preventing O3 prodn.</p> |
