Excavator to drive trench through rock or soil - has shield above cutter which may be set to cut steep wall in rock and shallow wall in unstable ground

The excavator system is used for driving an open trench into hard rock and also into loose ground. The system has a driving shield whose cutters are moved forward by means of presses on a support frame. The cutters are pushed forward separately or in groups. The trench is driven into ground by a shield (10) of the machine(26) cutting a steep front all (2) for digging through rock strata. The trench is made into loose soils by setting the cutters (12) to make sloping front wall for ensuring stability. The shield is clamped into the trench on digging the trench through rock. A scoop excavator is used on loose soil and rotating cutter in rocky ground.
