The invention comprises N-alkyl-N-alkoxyamides of tetrachloroterephthalic acid monoalkyl esters containing C1- 10 alkyl radicals and a process for making them by partial alkaline hydrolysis of the corresponding diester and reaction of the acid chloride of the monoester obtained with N-alkoxyalkylamine. Comparative compounds also prepared were the methyl ester methoxyamide, the methyl ester amide and the di-(N-methoxymethylamide) of the same acid.ALSO:Herbicides comprise N-alkyl-N-alkoxyamides of tetrachloroterephthalic acid monoalkyl esters containing C1-10 alkyl radicals. They may be formulated as dusts, granules, wettable powders, solution or emulsifiable concentrates. The usual additives may be present. |
