1278478 Shelving S A POUR L'ETUDE DE LA PROMOTION DES ENTREPRISES 3 June 1969 [31 May 1968 4 July 1968 16 Sept 1968 17 Sept 1968 18 Sept 1968 27 Nov 1968(2) 10 Jan 1969] 27967/69 Heading A4B [Also in Division E1] A structural assembly for furniture or for building walls, partitions or false ceilings comprises a plurality of spaced, parallel, elongate first elements, e.g. uprights 10, 12, Fig.1 interconnected by second elements, e.g. cross-bars 14, 16, 18, 44, arranged transversely of the first elements, each first element comprising a pair of U-section channels 60, 62, Fig.3, nesting one within the other, as shown, the flanges of the channels 60, 62 being resilient so that they resiliently grip an adjacent flange either by direct engagement, as in Fig.3, or through an interposed member 202, as shown in Fig.18 in which the channels are referenced 198, 200. Each first element may comprise more than two nested channels, Fig.4 (not shown). The uprights 10, 12 may be provided on their webs with V-shaped embossments 58, Figs.2 and 3, which may be welded to similar formations on an adjacent channel section to form a double upright 48 including two spaced apart first elements 50, 54 and 52, 56. The embossments 58 may be engaged by the hooked ends 146 of cantilever brackets or supports 108, Fig.17, for beams 112. Alternative forms of hook engagement of the beams 112 or supports 108 with the uprights are described, Figs.10-15 and 19 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig.16, opposed supports 108 each have spaced portions 110 forming jaws which grip the upright 106, a cover 134 being fitted over the supports 108. In a further embodiment, Fig.20, facilitating on adjustment of the angle of inclination of a beam 112 to an upright, a support 180 pivotally carries a disc 185 with hooking tongues 182, 184 for engaging the upright, the disc 185 having holes 187 having a ratchet type locking engagement with protuberances on the face of the support 180. In a further embodiment, Fig.18, a partition, which may serve as a false ceiling, comprises panels 204 defining the second transverse elements and pairs of channels 198, 200 defining the first elements, flanges 202 of the panels being gripped between the resilient channel flanges. |
