Vehicle light - having a lens with coloured filter coated with a layer of glass-clear plastic

A vehicle light is produced with a lens whose coloured filter is coated with a layer of glass-clear plastic. The plastic layer is in sheet form, heat-stretched into posn., pref. by vacuum deep-drawing. It can extend round he edge of the underlying lens portion, so as to bear against the seal between lens and bodywork, and can have a coating of glue on the side towards the filter. The sheet can be multiple-layer laminate having an extra strong basic layer, a scratch- and corrosion-resistant outer skin, and a layer of glue. One layer can also be of ultra-violet-light-absorbent material. The prefabricated filters can be fitted together loosely, and held together by the heat-stretched sheet.
