New 4,5-dichloro-3-arylmino-1,2-dithiolenes of formula (I): In the formula, R is (i) a phenyl, chlorophenyl or methoxyphenyl gp. substd, by one or more gps. selected from F, Br, CN, SCN, NO2, alkyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl, aryl, 2-6C alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, arylthio, acylamino, dialkylamino, alkoxycarbonyl, CONH2, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxysulphonyl, aryloxysulphonyl, SO2NH2 and N- contg. heterocycles, or (ii) 2- or 3-chlorophenyl, 2,3-, 2,6-, 3,5- or 2,5-dichlorophenyl or 3,4,5-, 2,4,6- or 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl, n = 1 or 2. (I) are acaricides, insecticides, fungicides, nematocides, and ectoparasiticides, e.g. they have higher activity than the known cpds. (I, R = 4-chlorophenyl and 3,4-dichlorophenyl) against resistant forms of Tetranychus urticae and against Fusicladium dendriticum on apple tree seedlings. A typical cpd. is 4,5-dichloro-3-(3,5-dichlorophenylimino)-1,2-dithiolene which is e.g. prepd. from 3,5-dichloroaniline and 3,4,5-trichloro-1,2-dithiolium chloride. |
