1515941 Exercising apparatus L C JOHNSTON 20 April 1976 [26 April 1975] 17402/75 Heading A6M Exercising apparatus comprises an open ended inwardly tapered member 10, a block member 20 having a channel 22, a pair of ropes 24a, 24b passing through said channel and frictionally engageable between block 20 and member 10, means 14, 16 secured to block 20 and rotatable to adjust the position of block 20 in member 10 to vary the frictional resistance against movement of the ropes, means 18 to maintain block 20 in the selected position, the rotatable means being adapted for detachable securement to a fixed object, the ends of ropes 24a, 24b emerging from one end of channel 22 and member 10 having individual hand grips 26 and the other ends of ropes 24a, 24b emerging from the other end of channel 22 and member 10 being associated with means 34 to contain the feet of a user. The member 10 is preferably constructed of a material of relatively high heat conductivity e.g. steel and the block 20 of a material of relatively low heat conductivity e.g. hardwood, glass or ceramic. Temperature indicating means e.g. a thermometer or a capsule containing a material which changes colour with heating may be associated with block 20 or member 10. Ropes 24a, 24b may pass through a tube 28 and formed into a double loop as shown for adjustment purposes. The means 34 preferably consists of two separate bands, one for each foot of the user.
