A process is provided for the production of m-benzoyl-hydratropic acid which comprises heating the reaction mixture obtained from the condensation of 2-benzoyl-cyclohexanone and pyruvic acid, its esters or salts, at a temperature of 200 DEG to 230 DEG and in the presence of an acid catalyst.
